My Journey with Drawing and Teaching

I have been drawing and instructing for over a decade, focusing on sketching, watercolour, and pencil techniques. My background includes formal training in fine arts and countless hours of independent practice. I believe in a structured, step-by-step approach that helps beginners understand the fundamentals before moving to advanced concepts. In my classes, I emphasise observation, proportion, and value. For watercolour, I teach wash techniques, layering, and colour mixing. For pencil, we explore hatching, blending, and texture. Each lesson is designed to build confidence and skill gradually. I continue to learn and refine my methods through ongoing practice and feedback from students.

What Students Say

The watercolour techniques taught here are practical and easy to follow. I love the emphasis on experimentation.

Priya

Pencil drawing became so much more enjoyable after I understood the basics of shading. Great instructor!

A Methodical Approach to Art Education

My teaching is based on breaking down complex subjects into manageable exercises. For sketching, we start with simple shapes and progress to detailed compositions. Watercolour lessons begin with flat washes and move to wet-on-wet. Pencil drawing covers line quality, shading, and perspective. This incremental method helps avoid overwhelm and builds a solid foundation.

About Sketch Basics

Sketch Basics is my personal platform where I share the techniques and insights I have gathered over years of practice. I offer guidance on sketching, watercolour, and pencil drawing through written tutorials, videos, and live sessions. My focus is on teaching the underlying principles – such as composition, colour theory, and mark-making – rather than promoting a specific style. I believe that every artist develops at their own pace, and my role is to provide clear explanations and constructive feedback. The courses are designed for beginners who want a reliable, step-by-step learning path.

Continuous Learning

Art education is a journey, not a destination. I constantly update my teaching materials based on new discoveries and student feedback. I encourage learners to explore their own creativity while following a structured framework. My goal is to make the process of learning to draw and paint accessible and rewarding for everyone.
